George R.R. Martin (or in this instance Captain Obvious), has stated “I think you need to have some hope” with regards to the conclusion of his best-selling heptalogy A Song of Ice and Fire, and in tangent, its HBO adaptation – Game of Thrones.
So far, no official release date for season six of the 26-Emmy Award winning TV series has been divulged, leaving us all pretty in the dark. I suppose the question on everyone’s mind is, “will anyone ever stay dead?“. Hinting that the ending won’t be all happy ever after, George R.R. Martin recently has the below to say:
“We all yearn for happy endings in a sense. Myself, I’m attracted to the bittersweet ending. People ask me how ‘Game of Thrones’ is gonna end, and I’m not gonna tell them…but I always say to expect something bittersweet in the end, You can’t just fulfill a quest and then pretend life is perfect. Life doesn’t work that way”.
Winter is coming. Quite literally.
