Gotham fans may get the answers to a series of questions that have been nagging them since the first episode of the pre-Batman series. Why were Thomas and Martha Wayne murdered and how much did the former CEO of Wayne Enterprise’s know of the companies apparent illicit connections to Gotham City’s criminal underworld?
In an interview with TV Insider, David Mazouz, who plays Bruce Wayne in the series, has explains that the cave which Bruce discovers in the finale to season 1, “changes everything in Bruce’s life. It changes how he sees Alfred, the criminal side of Gotham, even how he sees his parents“. The actor also tells us that the cave will be unlike any other incarnation, going so far as to say that, “it’s definitely not the Batcave. What is down there are clues to Thomas Wayne’s secret life and what he was trying to do before being killed”.
Its fair to say that its discovery will open up more questions than answers to Thomas Wayne’s past indiscretions but what could it unveil about Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) that changes how Bruce views him. Like the series itself, Mazouz has left us with more question than answers. The highly anticipated return of Gotham will premiere on Monday, September 21 on FOX.
