First off they want to cut the BBC, now they leave Channel 4 just hanging, honestly this is sadly what I’ve come to expect from the Government when around our TV channels. Ministers today have privately pulled back from a full privatisation of Channel 4, in favour of other options including part privatisation or forcing it to sell its HQ in London and move to Birmingham or Manchester.
This has drawn criticism from the channel’s chairman, who has criticised the Government of being indecisive, commenting:
“From a Channel 4 perspective, what is not helpful is prolonged uncertainty,” said Gurassa “Prolonged uncertainty is not good for any organisation; it’s not good for staff, business partners or advertisers who are all asking the same questions you’re asking: ‘What is going to happen?’”
