You’ll accept it or loathe it, that’s how the Government’s white paper on the BBC will be regarded. Certainly Wolf Hall director Peter Kosminksy is the latter warning that the BBC drifts ever closer to becoming the lap dog of the Government with the Government’s proposals to overhaul the corporation.
He commented:
“I am not reassured at all,” he said. “Once we start to have that number of people on the editorial board put there by the government you can kiss goodbye to the BBC’s reputation for independence.”
It seems he and Tony Hall are equally worried the power six Government Ministers can hold over the BBC, and frankly so am I.
