Gucci Cruise 2019: A Show Of Ice And Fire | Fashion News

Gucci took glamour on a trip to the afterlife with Alessandro Michele‘s spectacularly eerie Cruise show, held among the crumbling tombs and stone caskets of an ancient Roman necropolis in the southern French city of Arles.

Surrounded by dry ice and flickering church candles that contributed to create this gothic, hauntingly ethereal atmosphere, the 400 spectators were privileged to marvel at Michele’s bewitching collection — which was reportedly inspired by “an ossuary, a container or room made for storing skeletons and human remains” — as a line of fire lit the dusty runway.

A-list front row celebrity guests included actresses Salma Hayek and Saoirse Ronan, rapper A$AP Rocky, and iconic singer Elton John.

One thing is sure, though: the Italian powerhouse doesn’t need to use candelabras and smoke machines to convince us that Gucci is on fire, given that the luxury brand has seen its incomes increase by 48.7 per cent to €1.87 billion in the first quarter of this year.
