Guillermo Del Toro Reveals ‘Pacific Rim 2’ Begins Filming In November | Film News

When talking to Yahoo!, Guillermo Del Toro, whose latest horror venture Crimson Peak will be released later this year, revealed that filming for giant mechanical and flesh monster battle film sequel Pacific Rim 2 will commence this November. In the interview, Del Toro stated, “we have an epic battle at the end [that] we started designing a couple weeks ago“.

Not much has been released about the film so far, and probably won’t be for a while. We know that the Kaiju will probably return, and presumably we will need to send out forces of the huge mechanical suits otherwise known as Jaegers to protect us, from the second films’ predecessor. No casting has been released either, but Del Toro has previously stated that we could see Charlie Day return as Dr. Newton Geiszler, and Burn Gorman’s Gottlieb. Pacific Rim 2 is set for an August 2017 release.
