Singer Hannah Lucia can safely say she’s had the best of both worlds. The London-born musician moved to Brooklyn at an early age to serve tables, all while trying to work on her music and develop her own sound.
Here she encountered a thriving music scene and she began singing in jazz clubs to get her name out there. Noticed by a music producer, soon after her debut single “Lights Out” popped out, featuring UK rapper Giggs. The singer thought, and so did we, to have finally found her big break.
The song was a success, posing Hannah as the next big thing. Blending together different genres, probably a reminiscence of her exciting upbringing, the singer had all the cards to bring a fresh, much awaited new sound to the plate. But things didn’t quite work out as we expected them, and, despite some songs being released, there hasn’t been much more.
Now Hannah is back with a new single, “Strangest Feeling“, and the new offering is all we were hoping for. The song starts strong, with a daunting bassline and tingling vocals from Hannah that build up the expectations ultimately met in the chorus.
Halfway though the song we are reminded why Hannah was on the edge of making it big. The well-layered production, that brings together pop and trap, is backed up by the delicacy and punctual delivery of the singer’s verses. Hannah’s natural talent makes this effortlessly cool track, sound much less complicated than it actually is.
After a long absence from the music scenes, let’s hope we won’t have to wait much longer for something new, as Hannah Lucia has certainly a lot more to offer, that hopefully will come to life under the from of a complete project.
