Harrison Ford Reveals ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Plot Twist | Film News

Star Wars

10 days left and millions of fans are counting every second of them, waiting in anguish for the release of the most anticipated film of this decade: the latest entry in the epic Star Wars saga, The Force Awakens. J.J. Abrams has been obnoxiously tight-lipped about The Force Awakens, giving only minute details about a production that is more secure than Fort Knox. With the release so tangibly close, pandemonium is beginning to ensue as fans around the world suppress minor heart attacks every time they see an article related to The Force Awakens.

Yet Abrams continues to be unflinching in his stance, wanting his audience to be surprised when they see the film (we just want ONE thing, J.J.!) However, it seems that the stars of the new space opera are not as silent as their director. Harrison Ford, reprising his role as the world’s favourite scoundrel, Han Solo, has let slip a plot twist no one was expecting. When asked about his favourite scene from the new film during a Twitter Q&A, Ford answered “The sword fight with Rey and Kilo Ren” (sic). Que internet meltdown.

In all footage released thus far, it has been John Boyega’s rogue stormtrooper, Finn, that has gone toe-to-toe with the ultimate Darth Vader fanboy, Kylo Ren, and been pictured wielding Luke’s blue lightsaber. Yet Ford claims that Daisy Ridley’s Rey will also be facing off against Ren; a surprising revelation that suggests she could trade in her long staff for a lightsaber too.

This is made all the more exciting when combined with the rumours that Rey is of Skywalker/Solo stock, which would suggest Rey is Force-sensitive. However, don’t expect any affirmation or denial to come from J.J. Abrams; we’ll just have to wait until December 17 for our answer. To get a glimpse of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, check out the trailer below (which is really just an extended teaser).
