Hayley Atwell Set To Join ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ Cast | Film News

Hayley Atwell has already played her part in another major franchise – playing Peggy Carter in the MCU – and she’s about to board another. The actress is set to join Tom Cruise and co. in Mission: Impossible 7.

Writer-director Christopher McQuarrie pretty much confirmed the news when he posted a photo of Atwell’s headshot resting on top of an Impossible Missions Force binder, with the caption “Should you choose to accept…” Atwell responded with “Mission: Accepted. Though I’m not the sort to follow orders…”

There’s no details on M:I 7 yet, but they’ll have a tough time topping themselves after the frenetic, brilliant carnage of Fallout. That film became the highest grossing of the franchise, reeling in over $800 million worldwide.

The franchise has altered itself in the last decade, going from a strategy of hiring a new director to add their flair to each instalment to being a Cruise/McQuarrie driven series. It’s worked out pretty well. McQuarrie is on board to direct films number 7 and 8 in the series, which have already been commissioned. M:I 7 hits cinemas July 23, 2021, and the eighth instalment follows on August 5, 2022.

We’ll wait to hear what role Atwell has in the next film. She will reprise her role as Peggy Carter in an episode of Marvel’s animated series What If…?, which will air on Disney+. She’s also a part of the cast of Netflix’s ambitious series Criminal, which follows 12 stories in four different countries. She also just appeared in Blinded By The Light.
