Hey Upper East Siders, we’ve got big news for you: your one and only source into the scandalous life of Manhattan’s elite is back!
In 2020, WarnerMedia is supposed to be launching their new streaming platform HBO Max, and they are already making big plans for its debut. The service has ordered a reboot of CW’s Gossip Girl.
Our favourite soapy teen drama is coming back in a 10 one-hour episodes format from the original Gossip Girl team, with Joshua Safran, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage set as executive producers once again.
The original TV show was based on the book series by Cecily von Ziegesar and it ran from six seasons from 2007 to 2012 on CW. Although it only was not critically acclaimed, Dan, Serena, Blair, Nate and Chuck’s stories were followed by thousands of teenagers and young adults and it meant the start of a very promising career for most of the main actors.
However, the series finale of the show left fans confused, and they complained a lot about the narrative’s irregularities. That may be the reason why most of them were expecting a revival with the original cast. But their prayers have not been answered, as the new episodes will consist in a sequel reboot with new characters and new stories.
If the original cast will be appearing in the new Gossip Girl story is still a mystery yet to be solved. Hopefully, we’ll be receiving news about it very soon!
XOXO,
Gossip Girl
