It was announced earlier this year that James Franco and Seth Rogen would helm a film based on the making of the cultural phenomenon that is The Room – a film that’s become a classic for being well… extremely bad. Well now, we have our first photo from the film which sees Franco sporting Tommy Wiseau’s long dark hair and Dave Franco as Greg Sestero’s jock character Mark – and it’s quite a fun sight.

The film is based on Greg Sestero’s book of the same name, which detailed the troubled development and production of the 2003 cult film as well as Sestero’s relationship with the enigmatic Wiseau. Franco has previously described The Disaster Artist as “a combination of the Paul Thomas Anderson films Boogie Nights and The Master”. Which sounds like a very promising prospect – let’s hope Franco can live up to it.

The film will be produced through Seth Rogen’s production company Point Grey Pictures while 500 Days of Summer screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber are adapting the book. Franco will star in the film alongside brother Dave Franco, Seth Rogen, Kate Upton and Josh Hutcherson. The film currently does not have a release date – but until then you can revel in the utter awesomeness that is this scene.
