If Disney Had No Money, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Might Look Like This | Film Trailer

Sweding is a funny little element of pop-culture, and most people either love it or hate it. The idea behind a Swede (nothing to do with the country Sweden), is to remake a film or film trailer with literally zero budget. Amateur film makers raid their attics and neighbour’s bins in search of something that looks like or could be made to look approximately like the Golden Idol from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

It’s a way of paying homage to films you love and care about, as well as a great medium to display creative ingenuity outside of the film industry. Today, Youtube user Dumb Drum released a sweded version of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, and it is magnificent.

Using mainly cardboard and duct-tape (along with a very impressive hyperspace wormhole made from crate paper), a few people from California have made something very close to the original without the use of money – though I must admit, sweding relies heavily upon the viewer having seen the original to make sense of the approximations.

Check the trailer out below, its a light hearted hoot that still managed to raise the hairs on the back of my neck; thank goodness we’re only a month away now!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in UK cinemas on December 18.
