J. Cole Plays Debut Game For Rwanda Patriots In Basketball Africa League | Music News

 

US rapper and producer J. Cole has made his professional debut in the basketball scene. Only six days after signing with Rwandan Patriots, he participated in his first game on May 16, 2021, against Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers. He has a basketball background from his high school years and he also represented New York’s St John’s University at collegiate level

 

His fans have been very excited at the move, especially because he dropped an album, The Off Season, two days before his first professional game. It is really impressive how ready J. Cole is to do different things and represent the black community in different.

 

The rapper made an impact only minutes into the game, securing his first bucket as a professional player and he scored his third point from a technical free throw in the second quarter. He played 18 minutes and also registered two assists and three rebounds.

 

The rapper has always had a passion for sports, he told Sports Illustrated back in 2013 “Sports is where it started for me. It parallels my life, rap is such a competitive thing that’s why I have to watch sports. I got to keep up, it’s my life in just another form”.

 

At the report of his signing with the club, it stated that Cole would only appear in the inaugural season of BAL, which is in partnership with both FIBA and the NBA.
