Despite refusing to comment on who will play the young space smuggler Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars spin-off, The Force Awakens director J.J Abrams has a few, simple words of wisdom for whoever the lucky actor is. Currently, those rumoured for the part include Whiplash’s Miles Teller, 21 Jump Street’s Dave Franco and The Fault in Our Stars’ Ansel Elgort.
Speaking in an interview at the Television Critics Association event, Abrams was insistent that he had no news to share: “I wish I had something to say, but I don’t”. However, it seems Abrams did have some advice for the unnamed star; taking his opportunity to subtly emphasise the enormity of playing such an iconic character:“Watch Raiders of the Lost Ark. It’ll all be right there”.
As he’s recommended an Indiana Jones film and not actually a Star Wars movie that features Han Solo, it’s clear that Abrams is suggesting that playing a young Han Solo is really just playing a young Harrison Ford; which sounds like a colossally intimidating task.
