Jack White’s Keyboardist Isaiah ‘Ikey’ Owens Found Dead In Mexico | Music News

The news of Isaiah “Ikey” Owens‘ death, who had been on tour with Jack White, was broken earlier today (October 14). Best known for performing with Jack White and The Mars Volta, Owens was found dead, aged 38, in his hotel room in Cholula, Mexico. The cause of death is yet to be determined, with a full investigation underway. Owens, playing as part of The Buzzards, Jack White’s backing band, had recently performed with White three days earlier (October 11), in Mexico City. The rest of Jack White’s Mexican tour is to be cancelled out of respect for the American Keyboardist.

A statement on Jack White’s website has also been released saying: “It is with great sadness that we tell the world of the passing of the incredible musician Isaiah “Ikey” Owens. He will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans. Ikey Owens was an astounding keyboard player in Jack White’s backing band. He also played with Mars Volta, Free Moral Agents, and many other projects. Out of respect for Ikey, the remaining shows of the Jack White Tour in Mexico have been cancelled. We will all miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist“.
