Jake Gyllenhaal To Star In Thriller ‘Snow Blind’ | Film News

Jake Gyllenhaal is no stranger to the thriller genre, having starred in films such as Zodiac, Nightcrawler, Prisoners and Enemy, just to name a few. He’s about to add another to his resume, as he’s signed on to star in Snow Blind, which is based on the graphic novel of the same name.

Director Gustav Möller (The Guilty) will make his English-language debut with the film. Patrick Ness, the author of Chaos Walking and A Monster Calls, will pen the script.

Created by Ollie Masters and Tyler Jenkins, the graphic novel follows a boy who discovers that his family is in the witness protection program. It’s described as a cross between the aforementioned Prisoners and the excellent 1988 Sidney Lumet drama Running On Empty.

Gyllenhaal will also produce the film. He and Möller reportedly recorded a video pitch for the film and granted interested parties follow-up meetings on Zoom. Multiple studios and streamers have already submitted bids on the project, so a distributor should be announced pretty soon.

Möller and Gyllenhaal must enjoy working together as they’re also collaborating on the American remake of Möller’s Danish thriller The Guilty. It’s unclear what film will be his next project. He’s also got another non-Möller starring vehicle in development titled The Division, in which he will star alongside Jessica Chastain under the direction of David Leitch.

Either way, Möller and Gyllenhaal teaming up for not one, but two thrillers, is exciting news for any film fan.

Gyllenhaal will spend the rest of this year away from the spotlight with his producing hat on, as he’s producing films such as Tate Taylor‘s female crime drama Breaking News In Yuba County, Antonio Campos‘ thriller The Devil All The Time, Reinaldo Marcus Green‘s drama Good Joe Bell, and Natalie Erika James‘ horror movie Relic.
