James Cameron Announces Four ‘Avatar’ Sequels | Film News

1

It’s pretty obvious that the highest grossing film of all time would rack up a sequel, however in the seven years since the release of Avatar, the amazement and excitement for the film has somewhat diminished.

However James Cameron will not be swayed, and yesterday, at CinemaCon Las Vegas, he announced that he will be releasing four Avatar sequels, starting with Avatar 2 in 2018, with Avatars 3, 4 and 5 to be released Christmas 2020, 2022 and 2023 respectively.

We can assume that the gaps between the first and second, and the second and the rest, is in part to allow technology to advance in order to be able to realistically adhere to Cameron’s vision of what Pandora should be like, and what these films can achieve. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Avatar 2 is set for a Christmas 2018 release.
