Lucky chap James Corden has been chosen to host the 2016 Tony Awards, a responsibility that he considers to be “a huge honour”. Previously, Corden picked up his own Tony Award for Best Actor in 2012 after his perfomance as Francis Henshall in Richard Shean’s One Man, Two Guvnors.
When asked to comment, Corden excitedly revealed how honoured he feels to be selected, and promised us a fun-filled night: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Tony Awards. “I consider it a huge honour to be asked to host such an incredible night. It’s gonna be fun, I can’t wait to dust off my tap shoes”!
He also reflected on his other theatrical role, where he played Timms in Alan Bennett’s award-winning play The History Boys: “Both times I’ve worked on Broadway have been amongst the happiest times of my professional life”. Congratulations James! The Tony Awards will be held on 12 June.
