Jennifer Lawrence & David O’ Russell In Talks For Joy Mangano Biopic | Film News
Protagonist of the Hunger Games films, Jennifer Lawrence is in talks to work with long-term collaborator David O’ Russell on the biographic tale of Joy Mangano, with Jennifer Lawrence proposed to play the role of Joy Mangano. Acclaimed director David O’ Russell, who is known for his work on the films Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, is in talks with Fox 2000 about developing the project, with a script from Oscar-nominated writer Annie Mumolo.
The ‘Joy Mangano’ rags-to-riches story is about a single mother of three who invents a ‘Miracle Mop’. Before the invention, she was struggling to support her children working three jobs. In this real-life story, Mangano appeared live on QVC to market her product and sold 18,000 mops in twenty minutes. She is now a multi-millionaire after the success of her ‘Miracle Mop’ and inventing other similar products. Jennifer Lawrence has not yet confirmed whether she will be able to commit to the role.
