Universal Studio is postponing their Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy Marry Me from May 14 2021 to February 11 2022.
However, the logic behind the studio’s decision is quite understandable and rational. Universal has enough confidence in the film and believes in the full box office potential when the cinema market is back in shape. Moreover, February 11, 2022 is a Valentine’s Day weekend and a perfect time for such a movie, and Universal has already reserved the new release date.
Marry Me was directed by Kat Coiro, the filmmaker at the helm of Marvel Studio’s developing She-Hulk series.
The plot of the movie centres around a music superstars couple – Kat Valdez, played by Jennifer Lopez, and Bastian, played by a Colombian singer Maluma – who are about to get married. After finding out that her partner has been having an affair behind her back, Valdez chooses to marry a random stranger, played by Owen Wilson.
Other cast members of the film includes Sarah Silverman, John Bradley, Michelle Buteau, Stephen Wallem, Jameela Jamil, Jimmy Fallon, Utkarsh Ambudkar and others.
It is not the fist time that Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson have star in a movie together. Their joint debut happened in 1997 with the film Anaconda. Marry Me is a strikingly different kind of movie, although we are absolutely sure that it will meet the audience’s expectations as well.
