Jodie Abacus – Meet Me In The Middle | New Music

South London soul-pop wizard Jodie Abacus has announced his new EP Mild Cartoon Violence, with the release of a new emotive, groove-laden single titled “Meet Me In The Middle”. The new track is produced by the Canadian electronic producer POMO, and is from the upcoming five track EP.

In terms of the new EP and the title of it, Jodie explains why he gave it specifically that name, “I called my EP Mild Cartoon Violence because I wanted it to capture the flavour of what goes on in my mind at any point in time when I write songs. I have an aggressive and playful approach towards everything I write within the creative process…”

“I stand up, jump around and and get excited. I envision the past, the present and the future feel of the storyline like a movie in my head in a cartoonish way and then scrutinise and bash away heavily at anything that may not feel right. This EP is about the love, sex and torment”.

He also describes his new single as “… It’s sexy song about the desire of two people that are far away from each other yearning to be close to one another”. The song is funky and groovy, and it’s like what Afropunk says: “Sexiness is at its most infectious where soul meets electropop”.
