John Cena To Star In Action Comedy ‘Officer Exchange’ For Amazon

Per Deadline, John Cena has signed on to star in a new action comedy titled Officer Exchange for Amazon.

Cena will play Shepard ‘Shep,’ a wrecking ball police officer who teams up with an Indian cop to take down a diamond smuggling ring in India. Ben Zazove and Evan Turner have written the script, while Cena’s Peacemaker producers Peter Safran and John Rickard will produce the project for Amazon. Cena will also executive produce.

Zazove and Turner have written the upcoming Netflix Happy Madison comedy movie The Out-Law, which will star Pierce Brosnan, Michael Rooker, Adam Devine and Lil Rel Howery.

Zazove also wrote Paramount’s animated comedy Sherlock Gnomes himself. Safran has produced many successful franchises, including The Conjuring series, as well as the upcoming Shazam! and Aquaman films.

Cena is fresh off the massive success of HBO Max series Peacemaker, with the show’s season one finale scoring the biggest single day viewership performance for an HBO Max series – 44% over its premiere. Naturally, a second season is in the works.

Cena is also currently filming Matthew Vaughn‘s spy thriller Argylle and Amy Rice‘s political thriller The Independent, while he will also star in the live-action/animated hybrid film Coyote vs. Acme. He’s also expected to reprise his role as Jakob Toretto in the next two Fast & Furious movies.
