I bring to you a bit of indie-rock fun which certainly would’ve have earned its place in a New Years Eve party playlist, if only it was released sooner. Joy Again bring to the table some wobbly vocals to a charming surf-rock melody and a infectiously catchy beat. “How You Feel” is a fantastic B-side to their pre-holidays single “Looking Out For You” which will be officially released together on January 15.
Philadelphia’s Joy Again began as a relaxed recording project started by Sachi DiSerafino and Arthur Shea. This was until they must have realised their potential and transformed into a force to be reckoned with with the addition of band members Sean Henry, Blaise O’Brien and Logan Burke. Arthur Shea tells The FADER “‘How You Feel’ is a song I wrote in Sachi [DiSerafino] and my dorm room at boarding school on his banjo before a forced holiday party on our hall. It’s about my inability to speak to this girl I was infatuated with at the time just after having broken up with someone who really manipulated me into an extremely dark place”.
