Haitian-Canadian electronic music producer Kaytranada is back! And only weeks after the release of his album 99.9%, he’s produced another summer groove from one of music’s hottest stars right now, that is Rihanna. If you don’t think you’re familiar with Kaytranada… you probably are – he’s produced a constant stream of top notch remixes from Teedra Moses’ “Be Your Girl” to Jamie Woon’s “Sharpness”.
As the track opens, it’s not clear where this remix is going to go. However, as soon as Rihanna’s pitched up vocals drop at around 0.18 seconds coupled with other-worldly synths, we know we’re going to be in for a treat! Like all of Kay’s other tunes, the element of fun has definitely not been forgotten. Rihanna’s original song was very much a soft-rock ballad and this definitely isn’t. It’s one for the festivals and outdoor parties – and just in time for summer!
And what’s more, Kaytranada also announced a follow up to his album 99.9% to be a mixtape aptly named 0.01% and we can’t wait!
