Set right at the turn of the 20th century, the film follows Colette (Knightley), a young country woman, who marries literary entrepreneur Willy (Dominic West). Aware of Colette’s talent as a writer, Willy convinces her to write under his pseudonym.

The novel soon becomes a smash hit. But the success of the novel will threaten Colette and Willy’s relationship as well as unravel a dangerous game of rivalry as Colette fights to make her own voice heard.

The period drama, directed by Wash Westmoreland, has a terrific cast behind, with Dominic West (The Affair) in the role of Willy and Eleanor Tomlinson, Fiona Shaw and Ray Panthaki to round up the cast. Keira Knightley looks sumptuous in the role of the nonconformist Colette in what is yet another solid move for her career. The movie will be out in September 21 in the USA, right on time for the award season. Given the themes that the movie touches (feminism, non-conformism, gender norms) Colette should be able to capitalize on its terrific cast as well as its modern content and provide a performance worth of an Oscar nod.
