Lasse Hallstrom To Direct Disney’s Live Action Adaptation Of ‘The Nutcracker’ | Film News
Disney has nabbed three-time Oscar nominee Lasse Hallstrom to direct an upcoming live-action version of The Nutcracker. It joins the list of live action affairs to come out of the Studio, which also includes the upcoming Beauty and the Beast as well as a sequel to Mary Poppins.
THR has reported that the new film will be titled The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, and will be an adaptation of the seminal ballet and its story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. Ashleigh Powell will write the script, which she has been developing for two years, and Hallstrom’s lush visual style should complement the fantasy setting perfectly.
