Leicester-based musician Martin Luke Brown has released his latest single “**it gets better“, from his upcoming album damn, look at the view!
The single features driving drums, catchy piano chords, and positive energy. The album, which is set to be released on May 19th, 2023, is a delve into mental health, nostalgia, and coming-of-age angst.
Martin speaks about the single and the album, explaining, “I almost imagined my Mum singing it to me. It’s such a hilarious over simplification of mental health, almost like saying ‘don’t worry about it, it’ll blow over’. When I listen through it, it all seems so uncomplicated. It’s simple, but I can’t begin to explain how crazy the journey to arrive at that place was.”
In addition to the single, Martin has also released a series of session recordings of songs from his album performed live at Middle Farm Studios in Devon. He is joined by guests such as Greta Isaac, dodie, and Orla Gartland.
Martin is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist who began his musical journey at the age of 12. After quitting school to pursue music, his debut song “Nostalgia” helped him secure a contract with a major label record. After putting his solo artistic endeavors on hold in 2017, he shifted to a role of collaborator and helped other musicians, such as BTS, Lizzy McAlpine, and Sam Tompkins.
The excitement surrounding Martin’s work is palpable, with critics praising his “to-the-point lyricism and unwavering tone” and calling him “clearly on the fast track to success in the R&B and hip-hop world.” Fans eagerly anticipate the release of his upcoming album and the continuation of his musical journey.
