UK-Based Afropop Artist Dkizz Returns With New Single ‘My Lady’

After the success of his chart-topping single “Show Me“, which has received over 500,000 online views, Nigerian afropop star Dkizz, who is based in Birmingham, releases his eagerly awaited new song named “My Lady“.

The superb amapiano-tinged track “My Lady”, which serves as the lead single for his upcoming debut EP Sabi Boy, which drops in the summer, is supported by an attractive new music video.”My Lady” is an electrifying dance floor filler driven by rich drum arrangements and organic piano notes that emphasise the song’s amapiano and afrobeats qualities.

It was written and produced by Dkizz with help from Godfather Beats and Rufus Production. Dkizz, who talks lyrical about his leading lady while delivering a smooth vocal performance and contagious tunes, provides the base for the entire composition.

About the source of influence for “My Lady” Dkizz explains: “I wrote ‘My Lady’ last summer, after I had just come out of a ‘situationship’ with someone that was pretending to be the best person I could have ever met. It was a hell of a ride, and we didn’t quite work out, but it showed me what I really want in a relationship, and that’s what birthed ‘My Lady’.”

Dkizz, who is originally from Port Harcourt and currently divides his time between Birmingham and London, is carrying on the legacy of legendary Port Harcourt musicians like Burna Boy, Mr. Eazi, and Omah Lay, who were key in spreading afrobeats around the world in recent years, as he pushes his own distinctive afropop fusion sound to the forefront of world music this year.

With future hit single “My Lady” as his first track of the year, Dkizz is rapidly establishing himself as one to watch in 2023 thanks to his undeniable vocals, compelling musicianship, emotive poetry, and aptitude for writing hit tracks.
