Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill signed up for Richard Jewell biopic

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill have agreed to play leading roles in the forthcoming ‘Richard Jewell’ story, a biographic tale about security guard Richard Jewell, who was accused of being a terrorist and bombing the 1996 Atlantic Olympic Games.

Jonah Hill will play the role of Richard Jewell who, after finding a backpack bomb and helping to clear bystanders from the area, was falsely accused of planting the bomb. The film will depict how Jewell was initially praised for his brave efforts only to be later accused and vilified by the media.

An article written by Marie Brenner for Vanity Fair in 1997 titled The Ballad of Richard Jewell will be used as main source and basis for the film. DiCaprio and Hill recently worked together on the film The Wolf of Wall Street which earned them both Oscar nominations and they are working together along with rapper Q-Tip on a biopic on Q-Tip’s early life. So far, no producer or director has been announced for the ‘Richard Jewell’ film project.
