Lido Pimienta Shares Stunning Video For ‘Coming Thru’ | Music News


Lido Pimienta has shared a brand new video for her song “Coming Thru” from her latest album Miss Colombia.


Lido Pimienta is a Colombian musician and singer currently based in Canada. Her music can be described as Latin-American synthpop written dominantly in Spanish. Lido’s style is absolutely unique and gathers variety of indigenous traditional and contemporary electronic styles.


Pimienta released her debit album Color back in 2010 which was followed by La Papessa in 2016. Self-produced La Papessa was so successful that the singer was awarded with 2017 Polaris Music Prize and The Globe and Mail called Lido “the future of Canadian rock and roll” claiming her Artist Of The Year.


Lido’s latest LP Miss Colombia was released in April 2020. It is now nominated for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards where the singer is due to perform on March 14.


The album was named after Steve Harvey‘s confusion at the 2015 Miss Universe Ceremony and includes 11 beautiful songs in Spanish. One of them entitled “Coming Thru” is reborn again in the form of a music video.


The visuals are done in a collaboration with Orly Anan and its their third work together. According to the singer, the process happened in the safest way during the pandemic in Mexico City.


The video is filled with bold colours, authentic decorations and make up, strikingly beautiful costumes, unique choreography and even a table with abundance of colorful dishes on it.


Lido commented the release: “the creatures next to me are acting as my conscience but most importantly, my sense of power, surrounded by the abundance of colorful fruits and foods that are to be shared ONLY by the ones who want to protect us”.


“Coming Thru” is about overcoming one’s fears and doubts. The singer adds, “The song is about surviving, deciding when to share and when to stop sharing, and understanding when one is being used. The characters could be your own conscience, anxieties, or fears“.
