Inland Empire/Los Angeles rapper Trizz has released a new EP titled TRIZZMAS. It’s a tidy festive 6-track EP fully made by Cas1 that features Christmas-themed samples. “Backdoor Santa” is one of the EP tracks and certainly has a different angle from traditional Christmas songs.
Rapper Trizz, real name Arthur “Tre” Lea III, was born and raised in Los Angeles/Inland Empire, California. The child rapper developed a deep love of music at a young age, picking up a microphone for the first time at the tender age of nine. Hip-hop became a method for Trizz and his neighborhood pals to escape boredom and the tedium of life on the periphery as they were growing up in the Inland Empire suburbs.
Trizz improved his lyrical craft as his writing abilities grew, and he started creating his tracks and mixtapes under the stage name “Young Trizz.” Young Trizz, the name of his debut full-length EP, depicts the path of an independent musician trying to stand out from the crowd.
When Sacramento Horrorcore veteran Brotha Lynch Hung noticed Trizz on Twitter in 2012, it was the beginning of a new chapter for him. Trizz was later taken under Lynch’s wing, and he even gave him two writing credits on his album Mannibalector for the songs “MDK” and “Bacon & Eggs (Skit)” in addition to taking him on two tours: the “Independent Powerhouse Tour” in 2013 with Tech N9ne and the rest of Strange Music, and again in 2014 for the “Sicc of Da Industry Tour.”
Trizz has been remaining busy as a live musician, including appearances on the Hearing Colours European Tour with the CunninLynguists and the Independent Powerhouse US Tour 2017 with Tech N9ne & Brotha Lynch Hung, to name a couple.
“Backdoor Santa” is full of energetic rhythms with textures of old-school hip-hop. It is safe to say that it is not your average Christmas song however it is a very refreshing perspective to traditional Christmas songs.
