Rachel McAdams is set to join the Southpaw film cast alongside Oscar winners Lupita Nyong’o and Forest Whitaker. To be directed by Antoine Fuqua and re-written by Richard Wenk (“The Equalizer”), Southpaw is about a boxer who goes through difficult times and becomes addicted to drugs. This causes his career to take a downturn, forcing the boxer to turn his life around so that he can get back in the boxing ring. Jake Gyllenhaal is set to play the lead role as the boxer in the film. Whitaker will play the role of Totus ‘Tick’ Willis, a former boxing champion, now turned coach, who quit boxing after his child dies. McAdams will be playing the love interest while Nyong’o will be a social worker who looks after Gyllenhaal’s daughter after too many serious incidents.
