Maggie Q has signed on to star in Fear The Night, a thriller from Quiver Distribution that’s being directed by Neil LaBute. The film will revolve around an Iraqi war veteran whose skills are put to the test when a group of home invaders takes her sister’s house under siege during a bachelorette party.
Q is best known for he roles on shows Nikita and Designated Survivor, and in movies like the Divergent series, Mission: Impossible III, and recent action thriller The Protégé. She’s already proved multiple times over that she can easily pull off a role like this.
The more interesting aspect of Fear The Night might be LaBute’s involvement. He’s unfortunately best known for directing the horrible 2006 remake of The Wicker Man, but his early career is filled with interesting movies about toxic people and power, such as In The Company Of Men, Your Friends & Neighbors, and The Shape Of Things.
This will be his first film since 2015’s Dirty Weekend. In recent years he’s worked more in TV, directing episodes of Billions and Hell On Wheels. Quiver Distribution Co-Presidents Berry Meyerowitz and Jeff Sackman said in a statement:
“It’s an absolute privilege to have the opportunity to team up with Neil on a second project. Especially with such a powerhouse actress in the lead, we can’t wait to share this suspense-filled film with audiences.”
Meyerowitz and Sackman are also producing another upcoming thriller, Out Of The Blue, which will star Diane Kruger and Hank Azaria.
There’s no word yet on when Fear The Night is expected to enter production. Q, who currently stars in Fox series Pivoting, will be fine, but we’ll see if this can be a comeback of sorts for LaBute.
