Probably the biggest success of any new TV show to debut in 2015, Empire engrossed viewers in the world of Empire Records, the kings of all things hip-hop in the music industry. Headed by the always shady Lucious Lyon played by Terrance Howard, he must deal with his ex-wife Cookie, in a ground-breaking performance by the amazing Taraji P. Henson, who is demanding her half of the company. As Lucious discovers he is suffering from a terminal illness, he must choose between his three very different sons to become his successor.
Throughout the first season Empire was famous for its host of guest stars including; Mary J. Blige, Estelle, Jennifer Hudson, Snoop Dogg, Rita Ora, Courtney Love and Patti LaBelle just to name a few! However, during the ceremony for Mariah Carey receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, it was announced that Carey would have a role in Empire’s second season.
This might not come as a shock to many as Carey has previously worked with show creator Lee Daniels on 2009’s Precious. Carey joins a collection of guest stars announced for the second season including; Ludacris, Kelly Rowland, Chris Rock, Marisa Tomei, Lenny Kravitz and Alicia Keys. Empire series 2 is set to premiere on September 23.
