Maryland Afrobeats Duo Remedy Debut New Single ‘Deep Expressions’ | Music News

Introducing Seyi and JONiBOi, an Afrobeats duo based in Maryland called Remedy, with their brand new single titled “Deep Expressions” featuring Nigerian based artist Ocho Foreign and Seattle saxophone musician Tai Anthony.

The track, which fuses jazz, afrobeats and hip-hop in an interesting way, is the follow-up to Remedy’s last single “Not Enough”, with both songs coming on the back of their 2019 debut album From Thin Air.

According to the Afrobeats duo, “Deep Expressions” is a “chill dance dance song urging listeners not to get too caught up in the moment, but still enjoy themselves on the dance floor. As Ocho Foreign invites his love interest into his world, she quickly becomes mesmerized by his lifestyle, while we quickly remind her to just keep dancing, offering her lessons if she doesn’t know how to“.

Coming out of the DMV area in North America, Remedy are trying to add their own unique sound to the fast-rising Afrobeats and Afrofusion scene, with one-half of the duo, JONiBOi described as the mastermind behind most of the song ideas and lyrics, while the other half of the duo, Seyi is regarded as the expert producing all the beats.

After releasing their debut album From Thin Air in 2019, the duo have been releasing singles such as “Not Enough” and now “Deep Expressions” to great reception.
