Renowned Italian brand Max Mara Atelier has unveiled its new 2021 Fall Ready-To-Wear Collection. A selection of 13 coats that combine luxury, comfort and functionality, elevating the status of the coat from a wardrobe staple to a spectacular piece.
This collection is described as “centered on research and innovation in coats. This season’s inspiration is the world of modern art. Coats with overlapping textures where you can feel the quality. Intrinsically precious thanks to the great attention to detail. Created to last and pass on the alchemy secrets of the constant search for perfect beauty”, according to the Max Mara Atelier website.
What sets this collection apart from others is the craftsmanship, handmade finishes and details that add character to these pieces. The coats have sculptural, chiselled shapes and materials such as double cashmere and alpaca – an alpaca that has been extensively worked to give it an almost grainy texture – for modern and timeless pieces.
The colours remain very sober. Metal, charcoal, jute, driftwood, chalk and briar root, inspired by the materials of Arte Povera, a contemporary art movement held in Italy. There are also leather inserts that give the coats more texture and relief. Hidden under the collars and on the belts of the brown coats, this helps to break up the calm and confident look of the collection.
