The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012) was a hugely popular British film, and now BBC2 are given it a reality-show spin by creating a new documentary series based on it. The Real Marigold Hotel will feature a stellar cast of well-known, older celebs as they live together in a private mansion in Northern India’s Jaipur. Proving that life begins, not at 40, but at 60-something, the celebs will embark on everything from learning yoga to meeting Jaipur’s royal family.
The 8 celebs taking part are: actress Miriam Margolyes, retired news reader Jan Leeming, singer Patti Boulaye and TV chef Rosemary Shrager; darts champ Bobby George, dancer Wayne Sleep, Sylvester ‘Doctor Who’ McCoy and Roy “Say What You See” Walker, former host of Catchphrase will also participate.
Described as a “warm and very funny experiment” by BBC2 controller Kim Shillinglaw, The Real Marigold Hotel is expected to hit our screens later this month.
