Melbourne Producer Kuda Drops ‘Melanin’ With DSP And Lxrdmc

Melbourne-based producer Kuda has unveiled a brand new single titled “Melanin“, featuring dsp and Lxrdmc.

This brilliantly composed track skillfully amalgamates electronic elements with Afro-trap percussion and melodic synth waves. The vocals deliver a compelling anthem, encapsulating the struggles that ethnic minorities often endure as they strive for a better life within Australia. The robust bassline lends depth and rhythm to the song, enhancing the vocal performances.

DSP and Lxrdmc lend their voices to the track, while Kuda masterfully handles the production. Their collaboration was born in 2022 when Kuda, experimenting with novel synth sounds, crafted the beat and sent it over to lxrdmc, a lifelong friend of artist vv-ace, with whom Kuda has shared a church-going friendship since childhood.

The song navigates themes of ambition, hustle, and overcoming challenges, recounting narratives and expressing personal reflections on growing up as a person of color in a predominantly white society. The well-crafted verses offer a window into the perspectives of many ethnic groups, particularly those of African heritage.

Producer Brendan Kudakwashe, better known as “Kuda”, operates out of Melbourne, Australia. This young musician, of Zimbabwean and Zambian descent, has an innate ability to blend multi-genre production with soothing melodies, all while maintaining his unique sound.

In his early teens, Kuda embarked on his music production journey, occasionally dabbling in rap. Kuda has been the integral producer for the recently emerging Melbourne artist Jverse, for whom he also helped shape and develop a distinctive sound.

Drawing inspiration from artists like Benny Blanco, Calvin Harris, and Metro Boomin, Kuda is beginning to share his own story through his music.
