Miami-based band MOLD!, known for their dynamic blend of noise and punk music, has released “Choose To bBe Controlled,” the third single from their upcoming self-titled album, which is scheduled for release in September.
The band, consisting of Carlo Barbacci (Guitar – Vocals – Synths), Bronto Montano (Bass – Vocals), and Frankie Lujan (Drums), followed their proven formula that previously secured them the Miami New Times Best Emerging Act 2021 award.
For their new album, they once again joined forces with sound engineer Ryan Haft, renowned for his work with Torche, Wrong, and Jacuzzi Boys.
The band’s latest single, “Choose To Be Controlled,” explores the theme of individual autonomy in a world where power often seeks to control and manipulate.
It delves into the dichotomy between choosing control for comfort and striving for freedom, despite its potential hardships. Barbacci succinctly summed it up: “The song is about carving our own path in a world full of powerful people trying to control us.”
The album release show for MOLD!’s upcoming LP is scheduled for September 16th at Gramps, Miami. The event, presented by The Black Market, will also feature special guests Wrong, Palomino Blond, and Frogs Show Mercy.
Formed in 2019 following Carlo and Bronto’s migration from Peru to the US, MOLD! quickly became a presence in the Miami music scene. Their debut album No Silence! was released in 2021.
They’ve had the opportunity to perform at significant festivals, including iiiPoints and Bumble Fest, as well as events outside of South Florida such as Winterland in Jacksonville, Festival Sideral in Lima, Peru, and several shows in NYC.
In 2023, the band continues its exciting journey, with regular tours and the upcoming release of their second album. MOLD! is committed to pushing their sound as far as possible and looks forward to what the future may hold.
