Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, and Maggie Q have signed on to star in the action-thriller, The Asset. Q And Keaton will play rival assassins who share a mysterious past from their time in Vietnam, travelling the globe competing for high-profile contracts. When her mentor – played by Jackson – is murdered, the two assassins must form an uneasy alliance and return to ‘nam to find his killer.
Casino Royale director Martin Campbell is helming the film, while The Equalizer writer Richard Wenk has penned the script.
This sounds like your pretty standard action-thriller, but it’s got talented actors being helmed by a director who has contemporary action classic on his resume. So there’s plenty to get excited about. Keaton is currently filming Aaron Sorkin‘s Trial Of The Chicago 7, due for release next September. He will hop onto The Asset production right after.
Jackson will next be seen starring opposite Anthony Mackie in the Apple original drama, The Banker. He’s also on board for Millennium’s sequel to The Hitman’s Bodyguard. Q is best known for her role in the Divergent franchise, and she’ll next be seen in Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island, due for release on Valentine’s Day 2020.
Filming for The Asset will take place in London, Bucharest, and DaNang, Vietnam. Production will begin on January 8, 2020.
