While a student at the University of Minnesota, he started writing and performing songs. Since then, he has published one full-length album, one EP, and a number of singles and demos.

His artistic goal is to reach a broad audience by writing songs on the human experience. One day, he hopes to embark on a global tour to meet and interact with fans from all walks of life. “White Flag” is the first of his In Their Words cover series, which will be released over the course of this winter. In contrast to Jake Gusto’s usual emphasis on original composition and performance, In Their Words honors other people’s songwriting and storytelling with a collection of deeply felt sadness songs.

The majority of this project’s recordings were made at Nashville, Tennessee’s famed Blackbird Studio, with additional recordings made at Jake Gusto’s home studio in Los Angeles and different Airbnbs.

Leland Elliott handled the production, Jake Gusto handled the mixing, and Alec Ness handled the mastering for “White Flag”.
