It seems a new age has dawned for Mumford & Sons. They’ve apparently discarded the banjo for their upcoming third album Wilder Mind, and have added the rest of the drumkit to the usual lone kick that thumps away underneath all the plucking and strumming. Lead single “Believe” will give you a bit of an idea of what direction the newly-transformed folksters are taking. After two minutes of delicate piano build-up, in which “pretty feelings” are touched upon, a twang of a distorted electric guitar note, followed by a ripping solo and thumping drums, announce the changed sound. While bands should always be encouraged to evolve, it remains to be seen whether this huge new sound swallows up the endearing and emotive qualities that the Mumfords have come to be loved for.
