Nathan Fielder Developing New Series ‘The Rehearsal’ For HBO

Nathan Fielder‘s acclaimed Nathan For You may have concluded, but he’s not stopped trying to find ways to make beautifully awkward TV. Fielder will be writing, directing, and starring in The Rehearsal for HBO, a half-hour comedy series that has already received a series order at the network.

The show is set in a world where nothing seems to ever work out as people hoped, so Fielder gives people the opportunity to rehearse for their own lives. It’s not fully clear right now, but it sounds like the series will employ a similar use of non-actors as Nathan For You did. Hopefully it will elicit a similar amount of laughs from its audience.

Since Nathan For You‘s run ended in 2017, Fielder has remained out of the spotlight, working mostly behind the scenes on comedy projects such as Sacha Baron Cohen‘s Who Is America? and HBO’s How To with John Wilson.

This isn’t the only new project Fielder has in the works though. He’s also the creator and star of the upcoming Showtime series The Curse, which is also co-created by and will co-star Uncut Gems director Benny Safdie, and Emma Stone. Little has been revealed about that since its initial announcement over a year ago, but that is expected to be more of a traditionally-filmed series.

There’s no word on when either of Fielder’s new shows are expected to premiere, but considering the high quality of his previous work, fans will be happy to wait.
