On July 3, Neave Zaria revealed her third single “Never The Same” from her debut album, which is due for release in late 2020. “Never The Same” contains smoky soul vocals and tuneful melodies. During the past month, the song already generated attention when it was selected as BBC Introducing as Track of The Day.
Neave Zaria is a 19-year old singer from Guilford, UK. She started her career at a young age and was even personally approached to compete in the well-known talent show The X Factor when she was only 14 years old.
Her songs have a smoky sound of Retro-Soul and are reminding of big legends like Amy Winehouse and Aretha Franklin. Furthermore her songs have more contemporary influences and nuances coming from Jorja Smith.
Neave Zaria herself describes her music as “classic pop with a soul“. “People mention Adele a lot when they first hear me but my main influence was Amy Winehouse, so maybe somewhere in between the two” she stated out in an interview with brokegirlinthecity.com.
“Never The Same” has an iconic sound and takes listeners on a journey to an already forgotten time. Especially for her young age, Neave Zaria has an incredible voice. Moreover she manages to convey her feelings through soul. “I want to touch people emotionally because that’s what music is to me, it’s a language of the soul”, she points out.
