Garden Broom Recordings has teamed up with the neo-soul band Lace for the release of a deluxe version of their Liar’s Notebook EP. This will include four original tracks plus three additional live recordings including the dance-leaning remix of the lead single “Liar Liar” by Alighted. The project is a collaboration that tells stories using humour and experimentation.
Lace is comprised of Mana Contractor on the vocals, Navneet Rao on drums, Connor Coram on the bass and Sidhant Jain in the guitar. Together they form the band lace and grace us with their diverse influences including neo-soul, funk, jazz and South-Indian music.
The singer Mana Contractor has a deep enthusiasm for collaboration. With her previous learning experiences steeped in the jazz and Hindustani classical music, she has created a unique space for her globally-influenced vocal style.
The drummer Navneet Rao is a Los-Angeles-based audio-engineer producer and multi-instrumental musician originally from Bangalore, India. He played live with numerous bands and continued to gain experience in the fields where he works now. He’s playing drums and percussion for two more bands and he also plays bass to others while establishing his position as a versatile producer and sound engineer in LA.
The bassist Connor Coram is a multi-instrumentalist who has been playing, teaching and performing music for over fifteen years. He also played piano and trumpet in his early years and now plays the bass for numerous artists, while the guitarist Sidhant Jain has collaborated with various international artists and is now working on his own solo guitar instrumental project.
You can now listen to the project this four artists are working on and enjoy the looping and twisting musical patterns that they have to offer from their diverse collective experience below with “Liar Liar”:
