New ‘Bridget Jones’ Sequel To Begin Filming This Year | Film News

Reports are suggesting that the next installment of Bridget Jones’ Diary could go into production as soon as this year. According to the Daily Mail, Eric Fellner, co-chairman of Working Title (producers of the first two films), has stated that part 3 of the series is in “aggressive development“. He also added that, “we are keen to try to make it later this year, but there’s still nothing definite yet…”If the script and all our deals with the actors fall into place, then this one will be up and running“.

Sharon Maguire, director of the first film is said to be onboard to direct, and Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth have both been approached for the rumoured Bridget’s Baby (oooh are we going to see Bridget as a yummy mummy, now that will be exciting watch). It’s weird to think that the first film was released almost 15 years ago. I remember the big hoopla that people made, when it was rumoured they were turning the Helen Fielding penned book into a film and now, 14 years have just gone and passed.

Confession time, I thought that Renée Zellweger was actually British, I know, how? But to be fair I was only a kid when the movie was released so who could blame me. I remember being really upset learning that the actress was really American, that she wasn’t really that cuddly and that in parts of the film, she had used a body double.
