New DMX Track ‘Hood Blues’ Arrives Ahead Of Posthumous Album | Music News

DMX‘s legacy continues after his death!

On Tuesday May 25, the late legend’s bew song “Hood Blues” made its debut. Dropped by Def Jam Recordings and co-produced by DMX’s close friend and producer Swizz Beatz and Avenue Beatz, the new song features Benny the Butcher together with his cousins, brothers Conway the Machine and Westside Gunn.

“Hood Blues” appears to sample Lee Mason & His Orchestra’sShady Blues“, which also became famous due to “Anwsers” by Madlib. DMX’s latest song sounds like classic hip-hop with unapologetic and energetically charged bars.

DMX begins his verse rapping, “I grew up at the dark side, apartheid / Where goin’ against the grain will get you kidnapped and hogtied. I ain’t 50 years old for nothing / I’m not 50 years old for nothing”.

“Hood Blues” is taken from DMX’s posthumous album Exodus scheduled at May 28 release, which marks the first DMX album for Def Jam since 2003’s Grand Champ. It is now known that the upcoming album’s guest list includes Bono, Jay-Z, Nas and DMX’s son Exodus Simmons.

DMX tragically passed away on April 9 at the age of 50. His memorial service was held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Saturday, April 24.
