A trailer for the new HBO series Made For Love has just been released. The one-minute trailer unveils the first images of the dark romantic comedy.
It features Hazel Green, played by Cristin Milioti, who falls madly in love with a billionaire working in technology. The latter implants a high-tech surveillance chip in her brain, causing her to lose control of reality. Hazel’s attempts to escape the relationship are undermined by the chip, which tracks and captures her every movement while tracking down the “emotional data“.
You can also hear Ray Romano‘s voice in the background singing Beyoncé‘s famous song “Crazy In Love” in a spoken form and also appearing as Hazel’s father.
Based on Alissa Nutting‘s novel of the same name, published in 2017, Made For Love is produced by Christina Lee, who also plays the role of showrunner. It’s a blend of Palm Spring and Black Mirror, fusing Palm Springs‘ wackiest sci-fi comic sensibilities with the dark dystopia of Black Mirror.
The series is produced by Alissa Nutting, Patrick Somerville, Dean Bakopoulos, Liza Chasin, SJ Clarkson and features Dan Bakkedahl, Noma Dumezweni, Augusto Aguilera, and Ray Romano among others. It will be available on HBO Max in April
