Nicholas Hoult is looking to portray yet another real life human being in eyeing the lead for Fox’s Tolkien, directed by Dome Karukoski. J.R.R. Tolkien would be yet another author for the actor to take on, already starring as a young J.D. Salinger in upcoming biopic Rebel in the Rye.
J.R.R. Tolkien is most famed for creating Middle Earth, penning both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit book series. These have each been adapted into Hollywood staples by Peter Jackson, so the natural next step is to adapt Tolkien himself.
Tolkien’s script, written by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford, will detail the formative years of the author, around the outset of WWI. It shows orphaned Tolkien befriending a group of outsiders, only for their fellowship to be threatened by the outbreak of the war. It is the beginnings of Tolkien’s inspiration to write the best-selling novels.
Nicholas Hoult is enjoying a good run, having broken into Hollywood. From child acting in About a Boy (2002) to freaking it in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), Hoult is proving he has it all, ready to prove he’s serious in a myriad of biopics. He can soon be seen playing Nikola Tesla in The Current War, set for a December release this year.
