Clint Eastwood is reportedly closing in on his next project, as he plans to direct Juror No. 2 at Warner Bros., with Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette currently in talks to star. Jonathan Abrams has written the script.
The film will take place during a murder trial and follows a juror who realises that he may have caused the victim’s death. He must then decide whether to manipulate the jury to save himself, or reveal the truth and turn himself in. If they sign on, Hoult will play the juror, while Collette will play the prosecutor.
It’s not the kind of movie Eastwood usually makes, but it certainly sounds interesting. This will be his first film since 2021’s modern-day western Cry Macho, which wasn’t as well received as some of his recent other work.
Warner Bros. is reportedly nearing a green light on the project, with June being eyed as a potential production start date, which would follow Eastwood’s 93rd birthday on Wednesday, May 31st.
Hoult can currently be seen in Universal’s horror comedy Renfield, while he will also reprise his Emmy-nominated role in the third season of Hulu’s The Great, premiering next month.
He’ll next be seen in Robert Eggers‘ Nosferatu opposite Willem Dafoe, Emma Corin, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Collette just debuted two projects – Amazon fantasy series The Power, which debuted at the end of March, and action comedy Mafia Mamma, which was released in cinemas this week.
She’s currently filming Bong Joon-ho‘s highly anticipated Parasite follow-up Mickey 17; a sci-fi film that also stars Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, and Mark Ruffalo.
